Monday May 9th - Town Meeting - CCC Bathroom Article 34

As you are probably aware, we received funding to build a permanent restroom facility at the CCC from the Town back in 2020. This was largely through the support of the youth and town sports organizations like Norwell Men’s Softball and we thank you!

But due to unforeseen delays/increased construction costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to meet State Plumbing requirements; this revised article is seeking additional funding in support of the “Permanent restrooms for the Clipper Community Complex Article approved at Town Meeting July 2020. This project would provide much needed rehabilitation to the restroom facilities at the Clipper Community Complex. A combination of community hosted events and recreational use have rendered the portable toilets currently in place inadequate. Further, special needs, elderly and handicapped individuals continue to be challenged when using the current configuration of portable toilets.

Would you be willing to send an email out to the all of Norwell Men’s Softball informing them of the Town Meeting this Monday? We're asking all youth and town sports coordinators for one final push.

Details:

·  The joint-sponsored revised article has been unanimously approved by both the Community Preservation Committee (“CPC”) and the Norwell Advisory Board for the installation of permanent restrooms at the CCC which would be funded by the CPA funds

·  The estimated additional funds for this project would be approximately $241,000

·  The permanent structure would be directly behind the existing Snack Shack

·  Town Meeting will be held Monday May 9 at 7:30pm at the Norwell Middle School

Please come out to the town meeting and show your support!

Bob Stull

Hi current and former Norwell Men's Softball members,

It is with great sadness that I notify you of the passing of one our of our league member Bob Stull from the Norwell General / former Black Tie Spa.

On Monday, March 18 the Stull family endured a shocking and terrible loss. Bob Stull, 45, suffered a heart attack. Bob was a great husband to wife Kerri, wonderful father to 4 kids - Kyle, Reanne, Lindsey and Jacob, and an awesome friend to so many. Bob will be missed immensely by those who knew him.

So many people have reached out asking “How can I help?” and so we thought by launching this Go Fund Me page those who wanted could help the family with the financial support needed for funeral and related expenses. By contributing, we will be able to give his family the ability to grieve without the financial burden weighing on their minds.

Here is the link to donate to the Go Fund Me: https://www.gofundme.com/a-helping-hand-for-kerri-and-the-kids

Kerri and her kids need our support and love. Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep the Stull family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve this tragedy.

The wake will be held at McNamara Sparrell funeral home (30 Central Street, Norwell, MA) on Sunday, March 24 4:00-7:00p. The funeral will be held at the Old South Union Church (25 Columbian Street, South Weymouth, MA) on Monday, March 25 11:00a.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best Regards,

Vinnie Maggiuli

Norwell Summerfest Saturday June 17th 2 pm - 7:30 pm

Hi guys,

It's that time of year again, Norwell Men's Softball will kick off the season June 26th!!   Schedule to be posted tomorrow online.   Stay tuned...

Also, this Saturday Norwell Summerfest will be happening and our organization has donated the dunk tank again for this event.   Two years ago this was one of if not the main attraction of this great town event.

The dunk tank will be open from 2pm - 7:30 pm this year.   Please let me know if you would be able to help out collecting money and handing out balls to the kids.   Currently we have 3 volunteers covering the 5 1/2 hr window.

In 2015, we raised over $1200 dollars at Summerfest in which NMSL donated $1000 each to the Cole and Vinal school.   This year we'd like to make a similar donation to an organization/group of the NMSL Boards choice.

We greatly appreciate any help you can lend this weekend at this great town event and we look forward to a safe and successful NMSL 2017 season.

2016 Norwell Men's Softball Co-Champs - Marsh's Liquors and Stella Kitchens

Congrats to captain Brian Naymie from Stella Kitchens and captains Tim Williams & John Kirby from Marsh's Liquors on their Co-Championship! After 12 innings of a hard fought game the captains from both teams decided due to darkness for the first time in NMSL to crown 2 two champions for the 2016 Norwell Mens Softball season.

NMSL is made up of 10 teams consisting of close to 180 players. The 2016 playoff seedings came down to the last game of the season. Parity for sure this season in the NMSL.

For the upcoming 2017 season, if you know anyone from Norwell interested in playing in the NMSL please have them sign up on our website and email the commissioner, Vinnie Maggiulli at vincent.maggiulli@verizon.net.

Another great season by all the teams in the NMSL league!

Thank you again to our sponsors Rogers & Gray, Old Derby Animal Hospital, The Fours, Squires of Hanover, PG Painting, Black Tie Spa, Wahlburgers, McGreals Tavern, Stella Kitchens and Marsh's Liquors and our partner John Hickey from USAAA.  Special thanks to Tim Simpson of McGreal's running with the field maintenance/Vinal fence installation, Jay Crosby from Old Derby for field installation, Adam Blake of Rogers & Gray for handling the new uniform order and Glenn DiTomasso of Wahlburgers "aka" Bunt Master for updating the NMSL website and Facebook page.

Another great season by all the teams in the NMSL league!   Enjoy the rest of the summer and look forward to seeing everyone in and around town int the offseason.  Only 300 or so days until the 2017 season kicks off!

Best Regards,

NMSL Season Kickoff Success, Thank You's and Home Run Derby Contest

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out to McGreal's last night to kick off the NMSL season.

Last night was definitely a success and something we will make an annual event going forward for sure.  Special thank you to MaryAnn, Kevin, Chip and the rest of the McGreal's crew for making us feel at home like they always do and for supplying the first round and the burgers and dogs.

I also wanted to say thank you to Adam Blake for taking on the large task of running with the uniform orders for all of the teams including working with the sponsors, The Embroidery Clinic on logo designs and all of the teams for their orders.

Special thanks to Stu Sherman and Matt Daly for running with last nights fundraiser for the Schindler Family towards their campaign to raise awareness and funding for Childhood Cancer Research and the winner Bob Ross of Stella's for donating his winnings back.    In one night, NMSL stepped up again and raised over $800 towards this great cause which will be donated to the Schindler family, plus an additional $500 from our league for a total donation of $1,300.

Lastly, this season DB&S Lumber of Norwell will be sponsoring a Season Long Home Run Derby!

Rules are as follows:

·         Each team will keep a running tally of Home Runs hit on a game by game basis.

·         Each team is on the honor system to keep track of their home runs and report them to the league each week.  Weekly standings will be provided

·         At the end of the year, the team with the most home runs will get a $10 per home run donation from DB&S Lumber to be allocated to a Norwell related Charity or Family in Need.  For Example, Stellas Kitchens hits 75 home runs in total at the end of the regular season, DB&S will write a check for $750 to whichever charity the team chooses.

·         Winning Team will also get a $200 bar tab at a location of their choice to celebrate being Home Run Champs

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to another fun and safe season and seeing you all at the fields.

Saturday Nov 21st - Benefit for 11 year Nicole Schindler from Norwell

On Saturday, Nov. 21st, 2015 the Schindler's family will be hosting a benefit for Nicole Schindler. The event will be held at The Cushing Center on Main St. in Norwell Center, from 7-11PM.

Nicole is a courageous 11 year old girl, who has been battling pediatric cancer since diagnosed early last March. Throughout her entire marathon of treatments, she wears an ear to ear smile, and tries to adjust to her "new normal". Nicole, when feeling up to it, attends 6th grade at NMS with her twin brother, Gerald. Her younger brother Brian is a 3rd grader at Vinal.

Admission for the event is to be paid at the door:

$50 per couple

$30 per person

Please come out for a fun night and support this wonderful family. There will be raffles, silent auctions, cocktails and music. Light fare provided. Please email Kathleen Colman at laceycolman@comcast.net if you plan on attending. This will help the Schindler family with a head count.

If you can't attend but would still like to contribute, please find the link to their fundraising site and Nicole's story below.

2015 Norwell Men's Softball Season - Season Kickoff and Summerfest Dunk Tank volunteers

Hello everyone,

For those of you that do not know me my name is Vinnie Maggiulli and I'm the new commissioner of the Norwell Men's Softball league and the manager of the Norwell Clipper.   Today's an exciting day for NMSL as we kickoff the season at 6:15 pm at Vinal School with PG Painting versus the new look Marsh's Liquors team.

The 2015 NMSL season brings some new changes to the league.  As a board we voted to add more games to the schedule and move the start times to 6:15 from 6 for June and July games and from 5:30 to 6 pm in August. Each team will play 2 games at the new Clipper Complex turf field in addition to the games played at Vinal and Woodworth # 4.   We lowered the minimum age to 28 for Norwell residents with a 2 person maximum per team.   We're officially on social media / Facebook (be sure to like us and our sponsors).  Goal is to promote our league, our sponsors and to attract new players.  Lastly NMSL is very active in giving back to the Norwell community including donations this winter to the ice rink on Pine St and a dunk tank for Summerfest with all donations going to the Cole School playground and potentially one other local charity.  If you can spare a 1/2 hour or hour this Saturday at Summerfest we would greatly appreciate your assistance volunteering at the dunk tank handing out balls and collecting the donations.   If you are interested in helping out, please email me at vincent.maggiulli@verizon.net.

Thank you for playing this year in the NMSL and the board members and I wish you and your teams a fun, safe and successful 2015 season!

Best Regards

Vinnie Maggiulli

Post Season Festivities
Guys,

thanks for for a great season! It's been a lot of fun this year playing on the new infield.  It's been a pretty interesting season with some new look teams and some tight playoff pushes.  We've had an exciting post season so far with a surprise upset of the reigning 2 year champions Marshes Liquors by the back against the wall PG Painting squad. We also had an exciting bottom of the 9th play at the plate victory by the new look Squires over the gritty late season Old Derby Dirt Dogs.

Come down to Vinal tomorrow night and/or Wednesday night to watch some good semifinal play.
BYOB and I will have Tim Simpsons grill re-fired up serving NMSL Dogs and Burgers to all.
Tuesday McGreals vs PG Painting
Wednesday Black Tie vs Squires.

Thanks again to all for another  great season.

Nick
